On the ninth episode of Swirling Worlds: Inside the Mind of a Student-Athlete. I was joined by Isaac Harrington, a Sophomore business management major and men's lacrosse player here at Piedmont University. Right away, Harrington talked about the good that comes with being a student-athlete at Piedmont. "I got brought into a team with a lot of really cool brotherly type of dudes," said Harrington. As many athletes before Harrington mentioned on the podcast, no matter the sport they play here on campus, each is very close-knit and centered around a family aspect.
Isaac Harrington was born and raised in Palatine, Illinois, so I asked why he came so far south to get an education. "I always wanted to go south; I visited Georgia a couple times, Tennessee a bunch, Florida a bunch, but I always gravitated toward Georgia," said Harrington. "My parents and I have wanted to leave Chicago for a while, and Piedmont blessed me with that opportunity." He went on to mention how he was used to the more petite school vibe, as most of the schools he attended in the past were also smaller.

Later in the show, I asked Harrington a series of questions that focused on his dream school, the University of Michigan. As I do every episode of the podcast, I want to know what the guest's dream school is that (he/she/they) wanted to attend before ultimately choosing Piedmont as their destination for a degree. When Harrington talked about why he didn't ultimately end up at Michigan, it was because of his grades and test scores, but he also spoke about his lacrosse talents. "My God-given talent and what I worked for is not what is needed at the Division one level," said Harrington. "I feel like I fit in well at the Division Three level. I had a pretty good first year and a pretty good second year right now."
If you are a student-athlete, do you think you have the talent level to compete with Division One athletes?
