2020 was a roller coaster for the entire world, but it messed up many decisions for multiple athletes. Unfortunately, Kai Doyle was one of those athletes with aspirations to pursue her academic and athletic career at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU); Doyle was stripped away of that opportunity and ultimately ended up at Piedmont University. A northern girl, Doyle, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but moved to Atlanta, Georgia, at 14. She had a big dream of attending FAMU to chase her dreams of being a lawyer.
After applying to Piedmont as simply a safety net and never really thinking she would end up here, Doyle has thrived as an athlete and a person. "It was about a week before Piedmont started assigning housing assignments," said Doyle. "I called the coach and asked if they still had room for me, and he said yes."

As an athlete it can get pretty lonely at times as you try to get used to being around people you don't know, in an environment that you still have not gotten used to. "At first I hated Piedmont," said Doyle. "What changed Piedmont for me was my teammates and my coaches, it became a home away from home."
A senior this year at Piedmont, Kai is competing in her last track and field year for the school as she looks to graduate in May of 2024, but she will definitely leave behind a huge legacy on the program. Some of her accolades consist of:
USA South All-Conference First Team
-4x400m Relay (2021, 2022)
USA South All-Conference Second Team
-4x100m Relay (2022)
USA South All-Conference Third Team
-Triple Jump (2021)
USA South All-Academic Team (2021)
2023 CCS Triple Jump Champion
All-CCS Team (2023)
-First Team Triple Jump
Were you an athlete affected by Covid-19? If so what changes did you have to make during you college decisions?
Luckily enough I was already at Piedmont once Covid happened. It definitely affected people psychologically though as the whole world didn’t know what to do at that time.
