Speaking with Nicholas Griffin, the native of Georgia, by way of Baltimore. He provided great insight into the life of a student-athlete. Griffin had an amazing journey coming to Piedmont University back in 2019, back when it was known as Piedmont College. Nick told listeners that if it wasn't for his mother telling him to check the mailbox then he was for sure going to end up in the Marines. "The car was loaded up and we were about to leave the house so that I could go enlist," said Griffin. "After she started the car my mom told me check the mailbox and when I opened it there was a letter from Piedmont, and I decided in that moment that I wanted to actually attend college."

Griffin gave listeners great insight into his mind as a student athlete and reflected on his previous years at Piedmont. He made it clear that athletes go through a lot. Griffin mentioned that back in his first year he even thought about transferring out because times were so rough. Most people need help understanding what the typical student-athlete goes through daily. When examining a student-athlete's life, you can see all the commitments and various things going on throughout their day, yet they are still able to find the time to be successful.

Academics plays a huge part in athletes' daily lives as well, and Griffin mentioned that his dream school was Louisiana State University (LSU) and mentioned reasons as to why he was enrolled at Piedmont and not LSU. Being at a smaller school such as Piedmont helped Griffin realize his academic dreams and has helped him achieve his goals over the last 5 years.

What are some other crazy college commitment stories that you know, whether yours or a friends? And where does Nick's story rank on the list of crazy commitment stories?
